Senior Planner

 

Planscape, a well-established, dynamic land use planning consulting firm located in Bracebridge  - the heart of Muskoka, is looking for a Senior Planner to join our team.  Our firm, which is one of the largest planning consulting firms north of Barrie, provides a range of land use planning services to public and private sector clients.  The specialized component of our firm has been built in our backyard, working in the shoreline regions to address tourism and waterfront development issues, and in rural Ontario protecting agricultural lands and enhancing rural character.  As a member of our team, you will have full access to an interesting and diverse client base (private and municipal) and the opportunity to focus on your specific interests and grow within the company.

The person we are looking for will have a broad range of experience with policy and development planning, and will have at a minimum:

  • 5 years of progressively responsible, relevant land use planning experience;

  • Membership in Ontario Professional Planners Institute / Canadian Institute of Planners (or recognized affiliate);

  • Sound knowledge of the legislative planning framework in Ontario;

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a variety of projects through the land use planning and development approvals process;

  • Self-motivation, strong analytical ability and good organizational skills; 

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills including experience in providing expert testimony at the Ontario Land Tribunal;

  • A valid Ontario drivers license and a personal vehicle.

Familiarity with “cottage country” and an interest in agricultural issues would be an asset.

As a Senior Planner with our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparation and management of applications comprising a wide range of projects;

  • Provision of support to our Municipal client base;

  • Preparation of planning rationale and feasibility reports;

  • Provision of expert testimony before tribunals;

  • Presentations to clients, stakeholders, Municipal Committees and Councils;

  • Project management, including coordination of multi-disciplinary project teams.
